Chloric Acid and Chlorine Dioxide from Matches | Unstable, Dangerous, and Very Yellow!

Chloric acid is a somewhat rare chemical to encounter: it doesn't have many uses, and there are only a handful of videos actually showing this substance in action. In this video, we'll see just why... Want to help support videos like this? Hot acid was sprayed in all directions, dangerous gases were generated, and everything stank like chlorine (but more sickly-sweet...because chlorine dioxide). Additionally, if any dyes or impurities are left with the potassium chlorate when sulfuric acid is added, they will be immediately destroyed along with a good portion of the chloric acid. As I always say, you can try this at home...just. Be. SAFE.
